Our Story
When Thai Peacock opened in 1999, Thai food was still new to many Portland diners. There weren’t Thai restaurants on every corner like there are today, and going out for Thai food felt like a special occasion.
We started Thai Peacock with a simple idea: serve authentic Thai comfort food at prices that felt fair for everyone — office workers on lunch break, young families, students, and visitors exploring Portland — a place people could rely on for a good meal any day of the week.
Portland has always been a city shaped by hardworking people from all walks of life. That belief inspired us from the beginning, and it continues to guide everything we do.
More than 25 years later, through changing neighborhoods, restaurant trends, and even the challenges of the COVID years, our mission remains the same: to serve good food, welcome everyone, and be part of the community we call home.
As Portland’s appreciation for Thai cuisine grew, so did our desire to share more of the dishes and traditions we love. That journey expanded with Khao Moo Dang in 2018, Little Peacock in 2022, and Guay Tiew in 2026—each rooted in the same commitment to delicious Thai flavors and a fast-casual Thai restaurant people can rely on for a good meal any day of the week.
Khao Moo Dang
At Khao Moo Dang, we serve up the kind of pork dishes us Thais grew up with—classic street food you’ll find all over Bangkok. Simple, comforting, and full of bold, familiar flavors, made from traditional recipes and cooked with care.
Little Thai Peacock
located inside Pine Street Market since 2022, this Thai comfort food spot offers a delightful selection of delicious curries and flavorful egg noodle soup, accompanied by a variety of fried rice and noodle dishes, all served at wallet-friendly prices.
Ruk-Diew
translates to “one love” in Thai, symbolizing unity and warmth. The recipe and menu are lovingly inspired by the owner’s deep passion for cooking, especially for her five children. It reflects the heartfelt, unique touch that only a mother can bring to every dish, creating a comforting and memorable dining experience since 2023!
